Emergency First Response Course
Medical emergencies happen, and they happen when you least expect them.
The Emergency First Response course teaches you what to do in the minutes that matter, before help arrives: from cardiopulmonary resuscitation to managing serious bleeding, up to the use of a defibrillator.
This is not a scuba course: it is open to everyone, divers and non-divers alike, and requires no previous experience.
The funny thing
"Fun" is not the right word for a first aid course, but the experience is lighter than you might imagine.
You learn by doing, practising on the manikin and working through realistic scenarios in a relaxed setting, with no rush and no judgement: the goal is not to be perfect, it is to be able to do something instead of standing by and watching.
It is the same reason why this course is a prerequisite for the Rescue Diver and Divemaster levels.
What you'll learn
In this course you will learn:
- How to assess the scene and step in safely
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of a defibrillator (AED)
- How to recognise and manage life-threatening emergencies
- How to treat serious bleeding, shock and suspected spinal injuries
- How to use barriers to reduce the risk of contamination
- How to assess injuries and illnesses, apply bandages and immobilise
Prerequisites
None: the course is open to everyone, including those who have never dived and have never done any first aid before.

The cost of the course is around € 300.
This includes the manual, the patent and the use of all the training materials (manikins, protective barriers, training defibrillator).
You are responsible for the € 15 annual membership fee for the RobyMaster Scuba Team ASD.
If you also want to earn the Rescue Diver certification, a combined Rescue Diver + EFR package is available for € 650.

No. The Emergency First Response course involves no in-water activity and is open to anyone who wants to learn first aid, including people who do not dive.
For divers, however, it is an important step: the Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care certification is a prerequisite for the Rescue Diver and Divemaster courses.
No, no equipment is needed, neither scuba nor anything else.
Manikins, protective barriers and the training defibrillator are provided by us.
The course takes place entirely on land, so it is not tied to the pool sessions.

No. Since this is not a diving activity, no medical certificate is required for the Emergency First Response course.
Yes. At the beginning of the course you will be given a manual with the reference videos, to watch and study before the practical sessions.
There is no written exam like in the scuba courses: what matters is being able to perform the skills correctly.
For the purposes of the PADI course prerequisites the certification is considered valid for the following 24 months.
After that, a refresher course (Emergency First Response Refresher) is recommended, if only to brush up on the skills: these are abilities you forget quickly if you do not practise them.
